What does this sound like a recipe for to you? OK, I’ll tell you: A Christmas party!
Our Christmas party, which was December 9th, went great! As indicated, we had 6 kids in attendance, plus two of our girls who were there to help. The couple that hosted it had invited 5 other kids (of which 2 were unable to come at the last minute) plus their two, plus another girl whose mom comes to church. The event was also attended by 2 grandparents and a mom. Another mom came for the snack time at the end.
I very much enjoyed getting to know the couple who hosted the event. They had invited us over for lunch beforehand, so we had plenty of time to hang out and talk, while preparing cookie dough, practicing songs, and eating. Once everyone arrived, we had a sharing time about the birth of Jesus, then sang 2 Christmas songs (complete with guitars and percussion instruments.) We then made our way into the kitchen, where everyone had a great time decorating Christmas cookies American-style!
You can continue to be in prayer for the kids who attended and their parents and grandparents. Also, the question in my mind is: “What now?” This was a great one-time event, but what followup could there be? What should there be? Pray with us for open doors and open hearts.
